Summer Reading List

Hello!

Sorry for the absence of any new posts! It has been a busy couple of weeks in the Lady of Brisvegas household

However with a Christmas and New Year break on it's way - it's means more time for blogging and other things such as getting stuck into my reading list.

This morning I was bit self indulgent and laid in bed with a cup of tea (Earl Grey of course!) to finish Diane Van Furstenberg's memoirs 'The Women I wanted to be'. It was only fitting after I binged watch 'House of DVF' that I had been recording over the last few weeks that I finally finish this book.

'The Women I wanted to be' - a must read!

Much to Lord of Brisvegas's horror I am addicted to all sorts of reality or 'trash' television such as 'Keeping up with the Kardashians (or to be perfectly honest anything on the 'E' channel).

As I am a big fan of the wrap dress due to being a simple elegant choice out of the wardrobe and it happens to fit my busty hourglass figure well - it was great to find out more about the lady who invented it. From her days of a newly married young mum making it in the fashion industry to her battle with cancer I loved every page.

Do yourself a favour and hot foot it to the library, bookstore or kindle store to grab a copy before Christmas!

Getting to the end of this book was worth the guilt of missing a pilates class at the gym.

Now that I have finished DVF's memoirs I am able to delve into the following summer reading list:

The Rumour Mill - Roxy Jacenko

Lean In - Women, Work and the Will to Lead - Sheryl Sandberg

Let me know what is on your summer reading list!

To end this long overdue post is my favourite song of the week

The Magician - Sunlight

Lady of Brisvegas's Christmas Wish List

Even though Lord of Brisvegas and I are saving up for our delayed honeymoon and renovations next year, I thought it would be fun to list my Lady of Brisvegas Christmas Wish List for 2014!

Well that's enough of my wishful thinking for Christmas this year!

Hit me up with your wish list items for Santa to bring this Christmas.

Manicure Mondays

After a weekend trip to Townsville my nail polish was not in the best condition for the week ahead. As Lord of Brisvegas was working late I decided to indulge myself to an in-house manicure whilst watching my guilty pleasure 'Khloe and Kourtney Take the Hamptons'.
Evidence of nail polish who has seen better days!

For the weekend I had decided to wear OPI's 'Thrill of Brazil' as you can never go wrong with a traditional red nail polish colour. However now that playtime was over and it was back to work I had to pick something a bit more demure. It was a tough choice between old faithful 'Koala Berry' and Elephantastic Pink' however the pink won out.

Tough choices to be made regarding colour

After removing the chipped nail polish I slathered my hands in OPI's Avoplex handcream and then treated my cuticles to a nice dose of cuticle oil of the same brand. I soon regretted forgetting to use a base coat so there is a slight red stain remaining.

After prepping my nails for the new colour I applied three coats of Elephantastic Pink' which is necessary with this particular polish. I definitely remembered to apply a base coat (OPI of course!) after staring at my slightly stained nail bed before painting the colour on. I also applied OPI's top coat and finished the manicure off with a coat of OPI's Rapi-Dry - just be careful not applying too thick and not waiting a few minutes as it can make the polish have a bubbling finish.
The final coat must be OPI's Rapi-Dry

Unfortunately as I write this post a few chips have appeared but such is life and nothing a quick touch up cant fix.

The end result! (Needs a tidy up around the edges)

Is anyone else an OPI fanatic? Does Essie or China Doll work as well? Let me know your  at home manicure tip and the best tip will get a free bottle of OPI's Koala Berry (which is my favourite go to polish).

First Post Ramblings

Hello!

Welcome to my blog!

First blogposts are never ground breaking or exciting, so an introduction is definitely in order.

My name is Lady of Brisvegas - I love nothing more than a good strong cup of  tea (must be Earl Grey).

As the blog title suggests I live in Brisbane and think it the best city ever! Although I do love to explore Australia and the wider world.

Lord of Brisvegas is my partner in crime and we are tied the knot in September 2014

So if I am lucky enough to get any readers/followers, you will be able to follow my journey through everyday life and my adventures as a newly married women.

Lord of Brisvegas  and I have also recently purchased a house together and that will be a journey on itself to start the renovation process together.

Anyhoo, enough of my rambles.

Farewell for now

Lady of Brisvegas xx
